This is the first mini that I did entirely by multiple wash layers. The technique really adds a lot of depth to a mini’s color scheme and it isn’t hard to do at all. Just be prepared to be patient.

The only thing that I am not sure about is how the hair came out. It is really hard to get a good blond shade. Other than that though, fairly happy with how it turned out!

This week’s Webcomic Wednesday has been abducted by aliens. Errr, I mean that this week’s Webcomic Wednesday is about an alien abductee. Errr, a FICTIONAL alien abductee. Yeah, that’s it. There is no Area 51, we deny everything, no need to silence us, honest. Pleas not to be shoved into the scary white van now complete, let us check out the awesome that is Trying Human!

Trying Human is a very interesting comic by the VERY talented Emy Bitner. It updates on a Monday-Thursday schedule with full color pages. The art of Trying Human is another one of those webcomics that you can browse just to drool over all the pretty pictures. Add to that a very interesting plot and characters with an unusual amount of depth to them, and you get a fantastic comic.

The story is of the SciFi drama type if I had to try putting a genre to it. A lot of character interaction and plot building to be had. If you are looking for a gag-a-day or something a little less heavy, Trying Human may not be what you are in the mood for. If you are looking for something with a bit more meat on its bones though, this is a comic you should consider checking out.

I can not for the life of me understand how I had not heard about this comic until recently. Seriously, I dropped the ball here folks. Go over to Trying Human and browse the archive. Well worth an evening or two of your time.

Thus, we are moving to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule. I am hoping this will give me a little bit of breathing room to not only put out higher quality content, but also work on other projects. In addition to, you know, keeping up with life in general.

I need a few days.

The beginning of this year has been kicking this geek’s ass and it doesn’t look to be getting any better. So, instead of continuing to try and squeeze content out of a stone (which is what my current stress level is making every creative bone in my body feel like) I am going to call a brief hiatus and say come back next Monday.

I just need to take a week and get myself organized, prepared, and finally get rid of the remnants of this cold that completely kicked my butt last week. The Geek Corner is not fading or going away, I just need a bit of time to get things set up, both for the blog as well as other projects. So, please bear with me and come back next Monday. With luck and a bit of work I shall be all set and the geekery shall continue
