This post is going to be a pimping session for J.C. Hutchins‘ new book, 7th Son: Descent. The book version is being released in North America by St. Martin’s Press on Oct. 27, 2009. It is made of win and awesome and you need to buy it when it comes out.

J.C. Hutchins is one of the big names in podcasting. His 7th Son podcasts were among the very first podiobooks I ever listened to. After the publishing industry missed out on picking his books up, he turned them into podcasts and released them for the masses to listen to for free.

The 7th Son trilogy is one of the classics of podcasting. If you are into podcasting or listen to podcasts at all, you need to check them out. Do it if for no other reason than podcast cultural literacy.

Not only did Mr. Hutchins make his work available in podcast form, he did it in such high quality that to this day 100,000 episodes a month are still downloaded over three years after its initial release! If that doesn’t tell you how fantastic of a story the 7th Son saga is, I don’t think there is any convincing you.

Descent is the first in a series of three stories. St. Martin’s has picked up the first book, but it needs to make a solid splash with its debut in order to convince them to pick up the next two. If you have any doubts, Mr. Hutchins is re-releasing the novel version of Descent in podcast form AND has his new book available in serialized PDF format on his website.

I don’t see how you can ask for much more. You can preview the book in not one but TWO different ways. This is in addition to the metric ton of extra content Mr. Hutchins gives his fans. Please, go check out his site, check out his work, and when October 27th rolls around, pick up his book.

I know I am going to be camping the bookstore waiting to get my grubby little paws on it.
